M7 Oud Absolu For Men

Yves Saint Laurent released M7 in 2002, and it is still cited as the fragrance that brought oud into mainstream Western perfumery. The current 2.7 oz bottle is the oud-forward reading of that composition.

Mandarin and mineral notes open it before oud takes over the heart alongside patchouli, dense and medicinal in the way real agarwood is. Rockrose, myrrh and amber finish it with a resinous warmth. It is not a quiet fragrance and was never meant to be, which is much of its appeal to anyone curious about where designer oud began.
