FAQs
Answers to the questions we are asked most, about ordering and delivery, returns, and fragrance itself. If what you need is not here, email us and a real person will reply.
Ordering and payment
How do I place an order?
Add what you want to your bag and check out. You do not need an account to order, though having one lets you see your order history, save addresses, and keep a wish list across your devices.
What payment methods do you accept?
Major credit and debit cards, plus the express options shown at checkout — Shop Pay, PayPal, and Google Pay. Your card is charged when the order is placed.
Is my payment information safe?
Yes. Card details are collected and processed by our payment processors, not by us. We never see or store a full card number.
My payment was declined. What now?
Your bank is the fastest route to finding out why. We only see that a payment failed, never the reason. Once your bank has cleared it, simply place the order again.
Can I use a promo code?
Enter it in the promo box on the bag page and press Apply. If the code is valid, the saving appears in your order summary straight away and carries through to checkout. Codes cannot be combined unless we say so.
Are items in my bag reserved for me?
No. Nothing in a bag is held. If something sells out between you adding it and paying, we will contact you rather than quietly substituting something else.
Can I modify or cancel my order?
Contact us as quickly as you can at customercare@perfumesynergy.com. We will cancel an order if it has not yet been released for fulfillment. Once it has been released we cannot stop it, and it will need to be handled as a return.
We cannot change the items, the shipping method, or the shipping address on an order once it has entered the shipping process.
Why was my order cancelled?
Occasionally we cancel an order because an item turned out to be unavailable, because a price or description was published in error, or because the order did not pass payment verification. We refund in full when this happens and email you to explain.
Shipping and delivery
Where do you ship?
Most items ship to the 48 contiguous United States. Some products can be shipped faster and to all 50 states as well as USA territories — the item’s own page says which.
If an order contains both a faster-shipping item and a standard item, the order as a whole can only go to the 48 contiguous states. To send a faster-shipping item to Alaska, Hawaii, or a territory, order it on its own.
Do you ship internationally?
Not yet. We hope to offer international shipping before long.
How long will my order take?
Allow 1–2 business days for processing, then 5–7 business days in transit for standard items. Faster-shipping items take 3–5 business days to the contiguous states, and 2–4 weeks to Alaska, Hawaii, and USA territories.
Our daily cutoff is 10:00 AM Eastern Time. Orders placed after it, or at a weekend or on a holiday, begin processing the next business day.
How much is shipping?
Shipping is free on orders of $125 or more. Below that it is calculated from the weight of your order and starts at $7.95. You always see the exact amount at checkout before you pay.
Where does my order ship from?
From our own location in California, or directly from one of our distribution partners, depending on the item. Either way it is dispatched by us and arrives with our paperwork.
Why did my order arrive in more than one parcel?
An order with several items may be split across more than one package, and those packages can arrive on different days with separate tracking numbers. You are only ever charged shipping once per order.
How do I track my order?
You will get a shipping confirmation by email with tracking as soon as your order leaves the warehouse. You can also use our Track Your Order page, or sign in and open My Orders. Tracking can take up to 24 hours to start moving after the carrier scans the parcel.
My order never arrived.
If tracking says delivered but nothing has reached you, check with others at your address and with your neighbours first — parcels are often taken in. If it still has not turned up, contact customercare@perfumesynergy.com and we will open an inquiry with the carrier.
An item is missing from my shipment.
Contact customercare@perfumesynergy.com within 30 days of delivery with photographs of the outer carton, the shipping label, and the packing materials. Please keep all the packaging until the claim is settled, as carriers usually ask for it.
Returns and refunds
What is your return policy?
You can return any item within 30 days of receiving your order. It must be unopened, unused, and with its factory seal and cellophane intact, in its original packaging.
The full terms are in our Refund Policy.
I opened it and did not like the scent. Can I return it?
Unfortunately not. Once a fragrance, deodorant, or beauty item has been opened, sprayed, or applied it cannot be resold, and for safety and hygiene reasons we cannot accept it back. This is the standard across the industry.
If you are unsure about a fragrance, email us before you open it and we will help you decide.
How do I return something?
No need to contact us first and no return authorization is needed. If you are inside the 30 days and the item meets the conditions, ship it back to us at your own cost, with your name, address, email, phone number, and order number inside the parcel.
Please read the next answer before you ship. Fragrance is a regulated material in transit and there are rules about how it must be sent.
Are there special rules for shipping fragrance back?
Yes, and they matter. Perfume, cologne, body spray, and aerosols contain alcohol or are pressurized, which makes them hazardous materials in transit. When you return one, you are the shipper, and you are responsible for complying with US Department of Transportation regulations and your carrier’s rules.
In short: ground service only, never air. Pack, mark, and declare the parcel correctly. If you use USPS, hazardous materials postage is generally required and quantity limits apply. Check your item’s label — a flame symbol, the word “flammable,” or a pressurized-container warning means these rules apply to it.
Non-flammable items such as a stick deodorant or a cream can go back by ordinary ground service. The full detail is in our Refund Policy.
Where do I send my return?
To Perfume Synergy, 101 West American Canyon Road, 508-294, American Canyon, CA 94503. Please do not send a return to any supplier or warehouse address printed on the parcel you received — we cannot recover a package sent there.
Who pays for return shipping?
You do, including any hazardous materials surcharge, unless the return is the result of our error. We recommend a service with tracking.
My order arrived damaged or you sent the wrong item.
That is on us. Contact customercare@perfumesynergy.com within 30 days of delivery with photographs of the outer carton, the shipping label, the packing materials, and the item, and we will put it right at our expense.
When will I get my refund?
Once your return reaches us and we have checked its condition, we refund to your original payment method. Allow up to 5 business days for us to process it, and a few more for your bank or card issuer to post it.
Sales tax is refunded in proportion to what you return. Original shipping charges are refunded only where the return was caused by our error.
About fragrance
What is the difference between Perfume, Eau de Parfum, Eau de Toilette, and Eau de Cologne?
The difference is simply the concentration of oils in the fragrance. These oils are called “juice.” The highest concentration is in perfume, or parfum. Next comes Eau de Parfum, then Eau de Toilette, and finally Eau de Cologne.
Eau de Toilette and Eau de Cologne are generally interchangeable, particularly in men’s fragrances. After shave has the least amount of oils. The higher the concentration, the longer your fragrance lasts and the less you need to apply.
Why do some fragrances last much longer than others?
People with dry skin usually find a fragrance holds for less time than those with oily skin, because oily skin has more natural moisture to hold the fragrance in.
pH levels, meaning the amount of acidity in our skin, also vary slightly from person to person. Your individual pH determines how each ingredient in a fragrance reacts.
How can I make my scent last longer?
Try layering. Use the matching bath gel if the house offers one, then the moisturizer or powder, and then the Eau de Toilette, Eau de Parfum, or Eau de Cologne. That usually lasts noticeably longer.
Apply fragrance low on the body as well as behind your ears and on your neck, so the scent rises and you do not lose it as quickly. A light spray on the hair can last all day.
What is the difference between a splash and a spray?
There is no difference at all in the fragrance itself. The difference is only in how you apply it. A spray bottle, being essentially sealed all the time, may have a slightly longer shelf life. Beyond that it is entirely personal preference.
Why do some men wear cologne and others prefer after shave?
Cologne generally lasts much longer than after shave. Many men wear both: the fragrance lasts longer, you use less of each, and you still get the facial benefit of an after shave.
Why does fragrance contain alcohol?
Alcohol makes the fragrance lift off your skin. Without it, you would be the only person who knew you were wearing any fragrance at all.
What is the difference between after shave lotion, gel, and balm?
After shave lotion will usually sting a little as well as help close the pores after shaving. After shave balm is soothing to the skin. After shave gel also soothes, and cools the skin as well, which relieves razor burn.
What is shower gel?
Shower gel is soap in a different form, made for both men and women. It foams well and leaves your chosen fragrance on the skin, which enhances your cologne or perfume and makes the scent last much longer.
What do fragrance notes refer to?
A fragrance is made up of many different scents, and those are called notes.
Top notes are very light and last just five to ten minutes. Middle notes emerge about fifteen minutes after application and can last an hour or more. Bottom notes are the heavier ingredients and last longest, usually several hours.
How do I stop my fragrance going off?
Keep it somewhere cool and dry, away from windows, as sunlight unbalances the ingredients. An opened bottle keeps best stored in its box.
