Rodrigo Flores-Roux packed a great deal into this one. Tobacco, nutmeg, juniper berries, cypress and sage open it dry and resinous. The heart is a spice market — cinnamon, Turkish rose, pepper, cardamom, cloves, saffron, Egyptian jasmine and osmanthus. Then incense, agarwood, myrrh, leather, opoponax, labdanum, cedar and amber take over for the long haul.

This is John Varvatos at its most serious: smoky, dark and built for cold weather and formal nights rather than office hours. The 4.2 oz bottle will outlast most wardrobes.
