Jicky For Women

Jicky is the oldest fragrance still in production — Aimé Guerlain composed it in 1889 — and it is the one that invented the modern perfume, using synthetic vanillin and coumarin alongside naturals at a time when nobody did.

It opens sharp and almost medicinal with lavender and bergamot, then warms into the Guerlinade the house built its next century on: vanilla, tonka and a civet-musk animal note that makes it smell like skin rather than flowers. Strange on first spray and unmistakable after twenty minutes. Not a beginner's fragrance, and not trying to be.
