Blue Grass For Women

Blue Grass dates from 1934 and is one of the oldest fragrances anyone still sells. It was named after the Kentucky horse country Elizabeth Arden kept a farm in, and it wears its era deliberately.

Aldehydes give it that soapy, slightly waxy vintage opening, over a green herbal heart of lavender, clove and carnation. The base is sandalwood, musk and a touch of balsam. Crisp, dignified and completely unlike anything released in the last thirty years — worth trying for that reason alone.
