Gypsy Water

Gypsy Water, 2008, is the fragrance that made Byredo's name and still the one people mean when they say they like the house.

Bergamot, lemon, pepper and juniper berries open it cold and bright. The heart is incense, pine needles and orris — dry, resinous, genuinely woodsmoke-like — and it settles on amber, vanilla and sandalwood. The trick is how clean it stays: it reads like a campfire remembered rather than one you are standing next to.
